Acrostic Name Labels - End of Year Gift Tags for Students

I always give my students a little gift at the end of the school year. It’s usually just a small token – when you have a lot of students the price can quickly add up! Over the years I’ve got very creative about the kinds of gifts I give them.

A great way to personalize gifts for kids is by making acrostic tags using the letters of their names! You basically think of positive adjectives for each of the letters in a child’s name – choosing words that really describe that child. I admit that this can sometimes be challenging, as some letters have very few options. So I sometimes cheat a bit on the acrostic – for example, for the letter “X” I might write “eXcellent”.

As my kids are learning English as a second language their vocabulary in English is more limited, so I make these acrostics for my 7 to 9 year olds and translate the words for them if necessary. They are always thrilled to see their names spelled out with nice words to describe them!

You can attach these labels to bags of coloured chalk, sweets, crayons etc to make inexpensive but very personal and unique end of year gifts for your students.

I’ve created a Word document of these acrostic end of year gift tags that you can download for FREE below! I’ve set up editable text boxes on the tags so you can change the font, font colour and line spacing as you wish. You could also delete the text boxes and write the acrostic names by hand if you prefer! You can print them on white or coloured card, cut them out, punch a hole in the top of each and attach them to your gifts with a nice ribbon.

I’ve provided files in A4 and letter sizes. Be aware, however, that these are docx files, so they may not open or format properly with older versions of Microsoft Word (pre 2007).
