Dinosaur Footprint Letter Match

FacebookTwitter

Spanish version

Help your child learn dinosaur related words and beginning sounds with this fun FREE printable! Perfect if you’re teaching a dino theme, and a great addition to your literacy centre. You can use these cards together with my free, pocket dinosaur vocabulary flashcards.

The words included are dinosaur, egg, fossil, volcano, bone and footprints.

How to use the Dinosaur Footprint Cards:

  • Download the printable (see download box below). Choose the level of difficulty appropriate for your child. Look for these symbols:
TEA TIME MONKEYS PRE-K RESOURCES
Pre-K:

Appropriate for preschool children (age 3 – 4). Each dino print has different shaped cutting lines so there is only one possible way to join each half. Words that begin with the same letter have the same puzzle shape.

TEA TIME MONKEYS KINDERGARTEN RESOURCES
K:

Appropriate for Kindergarten children (age 5). Dino prints are cut straight in half making matching more challenging!

  • Print your chosen set of dinosaur footprints on glossy photo paper or card for printers. Cut out each print and then cut along the centre lines of each. I recommend laminating for durability.

My son is 3.5 with Childhood Apraxia of Speech and loved these cards. Dinosaurs are always a great theme! He thought it was funny that I was calling the ‘snail’ a ‘fossil’ but kept trying to practice it! We only tried the easier version as the shape of cuts was not what was interesting him, just the pictures and letters!

Thankyou! Glad your son had fun playing with the cards! Of course, the concept of a fossil is a tricky one for kids – they live so much in the present, and it does look just like a snail!

My son (3.2 years old) really liked the pictures and he stayed focused a lot longer than other activities we tried. He’s delayed in expressive and receptive so it was a little harder for him to understand the concept of putting them “together”. I love the idea/graphics and we enjoyed playing with the pieces and getting a new chance at communicating to one another! Good job!

Love these flash cards! My son is at the beginning of learning letter sounds and he had so much fun with the easy version. Not quite ready for the hard version but I think he will be there soon. Thank you for creating these flash cards.
