Easy pig nose craft - Pig craft for Preschoolers - Tea Time Teachables

Here’s a super-cute pig nose craft that is a breeze to make with little ones – no paint required! Perfect for when you want to do a quick, fun and easy craft project without the accompanying mess. All it needs is just a few simple materials and your kids can turn into adorable little piggies, ready for creative play!

Not only is this craft easy enough for very young children to make with little help, but it also provides so many opportunities for imaginative play afterwards. I love to make these pig noses when I’m doing Three Little Pigs or Farm-themed activities with my preschoolers, and they are always a huge hit with my little students, whether they’re pretending to be little piggies frolicking on a farm or role-playing the characters from the story! I’ve also provided some suggestions for songs and rhymes you might like to do after making the craft at the end of this post, as well as more farm related resources.

Mess-free Pig Nose Craft Tutorial:

Supplies

Egg carton (made from card, not plastic)
Pink tissue paper
Elastic
Glue stick
Scissors
Screwdriver / sharp pencil – to make the holes

How to make the mess-free pig nose craft:

Cut the base of an egg carton into separate cups.
Use a screwdriver or a sharp pencil to make two holes on the top of the cup and two more holes on opposite sides of the cup (this step should only be done by an adult).

3. Tear up pieces of pink tissue paper into smallish squares. Invite children to cover the egg carton cup with glue and stick on the tissue squares to completely cover it.

4. Use a pencil to re-open the holes that have been covered by the tissue paper. You may like to have your kids use coloured pens to define the snout holes.

5. Take a length of elastic and cut to approximately 42 cm (17 inches). Thread one end through one of the side holes and make a knot. The knot should be inside the cup.

6. Do the same for the other end. You may need to adjust the length of the elastic for each child.

7. And that’s it! The easy-peasy, mess-free pig nose craft is finished!

Advice for small group classes:

This is a really easy craft that can be completed in under 10 minutes.

However, there is some preparation that should only be done by an adult:

Cutting the egg carton into separate cups and making the holes in the cups.
Attaching the elastic.
