Hide and Seek Elf on the Shelf Printable

If you’ve never heard of Elf on the Shelf, it’s a fun book / Christmas tradition that many families and schools do with their kids. Every day in December in the run up to Christmas, the kids must find the Elf somewhere in the house or school. The elf often appears in unlikely places doing some amazing things – you can see some ideas here!

You can use this simple printable to play a fun Elf hide and seek game with little ones, and at the same time practise prepositions of place and Christmas vocabulary! Simply cut out an elf and hide him (or her – you decide!) under one of the pictures. Children try to guess where the Elf is; is he behind the present? Is she in the stocking? Lift up the flap to see if they’re right!

The elf is stuck on with blu-tack, so you can move it under different flaps and play the game as many times as you like.There are also two styles to choose from: 4 flaps or 5 flaps!

Once you’ve played the game with your kids, they can make one for themselves. Both styles are really easy to construct and they’ll love hiding the elf under the flaps.

How to use the Hide and Seek Elf on the Shelf Printable:

• Choose your preferred style: Style 1 makes 5 flaps, Style 2 makes 4 flaps
• Children colour the pictures, cut along the dashed lines and fold along the solid lines. Make sure they fold so that the pictures are on the outside!
• Print and cut out the elves and put some blu-tack on the back. Give each child one to stick under the pictures and have fun playing Elf hide and seek!
